Searching for the Perfect Wedding Venue? Here's My 5 Tips!

The perfect wedding venue DOES exist...it just might take some searching! Here's my 5 tips on how to choose your dream wedding venue.

Your venue is the base that the rest of your wedding vendors and details to rest on. Your venue sets the tone for your wedding. Your venue reflects the type of wedding your guests are attending. Your venue is most likely the first thing booked when starting your planning journey! Needless to say, your venue is important!

1. What's your Wedding Vibe?!

First thing you and your Fiance need to decide is what your wedding style and vibe is going to be! Dreaming about a rustic barn wedding? Classy Country Club? Cool warehouse? Beach destination? This is my #1 tip for choosing a venue is to decide on what type of wedding you want! The venue sets the tone for your guests, it's important that the venue reflects the vibe you're going for! The venue will also guide you into your other vendors like a caterer. If you are wanting a BBQ buffet for dinner, that might not be the best option for a black tie formal wedding at a private high end country club! Just something to think about! (although you go for it if thats what you want! Theres no rules when it comes to wedding planning!)

2. What's the budget?

Almost as important as the vibe for you wedding day is the budget. As much as I would have LOVEDDD to have a destination beach wedding in the sand at sunset, that just wasn't in the budget for us and thats OK! Take a realistic look at what you have set aside for the venue and then take into consideration your venue vibe and that'll be a great place to start finding your perfect venue!

3. How Many People?!

While searching for venues in your budget, keep in mind your guest count! If you fell in love with a rustic barn for your September wedding that checks all the boxes but only holds 100 people and your guest list right now is 190... might now work! Unless you cut out those people your Mom invited that you don't really know anyways! HA!

4. Ceremony + Reception Space?

When thinking about your wedding day, are you envisioning the Ceremony + Reception all in one venue? Wanting to have your Ceremony at your family Church then head to a Reception Venue? Want an outdoor Ceremony then move indoors for a Reception? Looking for both Ceremony + Reception outside? This will narrow down your search pretty quick depending on your vision for the day!

5. Let the Venue Shine!

My last and final tip when choosing the perfect venue is to think about your wedding decor while looking at venues. If you have the coolest rooftop loft space that has exposed brick, views of the city, the coolest vibe, let it shine! Maybe you can allocate more funds to the venue budget and do less with decor and let the venue do the talking!

Whether you've chosen the most elegant ballroom or decided on a backyard wedding, all venues have one thing in common...it's a place that you'll gather your friends and family to celebrate the love you have for each other. It's the people in the venue that matters the most on your wedding day!
